Mid-Atlantic Quick Hitters

Mid-Atlantic Quick Hitters

News and notes on some of the top 2015 prospects in the Mid-Atlantic.

Josh Sweat visited Virginia Tech this past weekend and sources close to the nation’s No. 3 prospect said he had a great time. The trip to Blacksburg was the last of a summer that’s also included visits to Florida State, Georgia and Tennessee for the five-star Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith defensive end. While the out-of-state schools have made up ground this summer, it’s going to be awfully hard to beat the Hokies.

Shy Tuttle will likely make his decision at sometime late next month. According to sources, Tennessee, North Carolina and NC State are the schools recruiting the four-star Lexington (N.C.) North Davidson defensive tackle the hardest, while Clemson is also still in pursuit. Ultimately, I think it will come down to the first three schools mentioned. From what I’m hearing, Tuttle does not have a leader.

Jaason Lewis named a top five in no particular order earlier this month of Arizona State, LSU, Miami, Ole Miss and Oregon. After talking to sources close to the situation, it appears that LSU and Miami have become the favorites to land the four-star Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes running back. However, I would not count out the other three teams yet.

Mike Hughes will not be making his decision in the immediate future. According to New Bern (N.C.) cornerback, the decision will come before the season, but no date has been set. It's setting up to become a battle between North Carolina and NC State, and I think it could go either way. I would not be surprised if he visited both schools again before making his decision.

Anthony Rush is down to Clemson, Kentucky and North Carolina. According to the Cary (N.C.) defensive lineman, Kentucky has a slight lead at this time. He will take official visits to all three schools before making his decision during the season on senior night.
