| 9/19/06: Mike Golder commits to NC State.
NOTES: Mike Golder earned all-conference honors during his junior season and was well on his way to being recruited by a host of schools but an offseason ACL injury hindered his recruitment.
Now fully healthy after surgery, Golder sent his senior film to NC State, and the Wolfpack made a decision to offer him a scholarship in September.
At 6-foot-4 and 285 pounds, Golder has been timed as low as 5.2 in the 40. He projects as a full qualifier with a qualifying SAT score and a GPA above 3.0.
GOLDER QUOTE: "I’m so stoked to be going there. I know they’ve had a tough two games but I know they played some pretty good teams. One thing I know is they’re always going to have a good team and good coaches. It’s just a good place to be."
SCOUTING REPORT: "Offensive lineman Mike Golder from Apex (NC) High School recently committed to NC State after receiving an offer from Wolfpack DE coach Todd Stroud. Lining up at left tackle for Apex, it is easy to see the potential that intrigued the Pack coaching staff. Golder is explosive out of his stance and his technique is much better than one would expect from junior film. He tends to keep his pad level low but the thing that really impressed us is that Golder never stops on a play. He's always moving on the field and seemingly never quits until the play is over. Golder also shows the ability to pull and we think offensive guard may be a likely destination for him once in college.
"He does play a little stiff but there's no question Golder has the potential to be a big contributor to the Wolfpack offensive line after being given two or three years to mature. Since Apex doesn't pass the ball frequently, he will also need some time to hone his pass blocking skills." -- Pack Pride Recruiting Analyst Steve Williams
