2005: A player that wasn’t expected to make the team, Edwards played in 12 games, registering three tackles and six passes defensed. Played primarily on special teams and recorded 15 tackles. His biggest career highlight came vs. future Hall of Famer Brett Favre. Edwards intercepted a Favre pass Oct. 23 and returned it 51 yards for a touchdown.
College: A four-year letter winner at N.C. State, he was versatile – playing wide receiver, cornerback and returning punts. Played wide receiver his first two seasons before moving to cornerback as a junior. Became a full-time starter as a senior and had 40 tackles and seven interceptions.
Personal: Also played basketball with the Wolfpack hoops team following the 2001 season. Was named North Carolina Offensive Football Player of the Year as a high school senior and was selected to play in the North Carolina Shrine All-Star Game. Was a strong return man in high school and as a senior he returned two punts and one kickoff for a touchdown. Was a basketball standout, earning three all-conference selections.
