RALEIGH, N.C. -- Several NC State players met with the media after the 74-48 win over Winthrop.

Tracy Smith

"I thought we came out with great energy to start... we just wanted to show our audience that we are capable of doing a good job this year."

"In practice, there's a red group and a white group. The red group are the starters and the white group is the second group. The team chemistry is to focus more on that during the practice and then when the game comes we try to execute like we do in practice."

"We've got to go out and play hard... whichever group is playing hard is going to stay in."

"I didn't play my best. I was a little off rhythm out there in the first half. I wasn't aggressive at all. In the second half I came out and helped us increase the lead a little bit."

"It's cold in there a little bit. You can't really get a sweat going, but you've got to fight through that. The crowd wasn't here but they'll be here later. We've just got to continue to play."

"We were able to get some stops, get the rebound and push it."

Ben McCauley

"We're 3-0. What can be better."

"They are a good team. I think they are going to do well in their conference."

"When we push the ball, guys get easy shots."

"From the first possession on we sent a message that we were here for business and we were going to do whatever it takes to win."
