He began his journalism career serving as a staff writer for the Technician, NC State’s daily newspaper. He has since served as feature columnist for The Strutting Wolf and Pack Pride.

Brett received a B.A. degree in English from North Carolina State University in 1996. He also received his M.A. degree in English from NC State in 2000.
