RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State head coach Tom O'Brien met with the media following Friday's scrimmage. He announced today that redshirt freshmen Denzelle Good and Morgan Alexander are no longer on the team.

NOTE: No individual stats were given for the second scrimmage. The quarterbacks went 34-of-54 for 422 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions. State accounted for 159 yards rushing on 69 rushes and two touchdowns.

Defensively the team had ten tackles for a loss, six sacks, and three interceptions.

Kicker Josh Czajkowski connected on 2-of-3 field goals. Jeff Ruiz averaged 42 yards per punt on four punts, and Andy Leffler averaged 52 yards per punt on four punts.

Returner T.J. Graham ran back a punt for a touchdown.

"I think they started off a little tired but got into it as we got going into the scrimmage."

"We changed the venue on how we did things, opened it up a little more and gave the quarterbacks an opportunity to throw. For all the yardage there was still not a lot of scoring. We made them go a long way all the time."

"The strength is still the wide receiver and the passing game... we have to continue to work on defense to get better. That strength will help make our secondary better."

"Russell had a good day. Some of the rushing yardage was him scrambling around. That causes some problems for the defense too. That puts them back on their heels a little bit which they have to learn not to be."

"Once again Nate wasn't in there and I think he makes a difference in a lot of the stuff we had."

"I don't think there was a fumble... T.J. had one on a punt return. That was the only one early."

"He's backing up. As I said, he kicked the ball too far. He's got to get it up in the air and hang it, not let people run it back and spread the field on you."

"We're tired right now and have got to continue to fight through."

"What's more of a concern is the tackles for a loss. That takes a lot of that away."

"The offensive line really isn't going to be figured out until we get Mattes back which probably isn't going to be until somewhere in the middle of September. He's still the key on how this offensive line is going to be... if he was out there now it would be a lot easier to put together. I know that."

"Quintin Payton dislocated his finger in pre-practice... he's definitely out for the opener. I don't know how long that is going to be."

"Both Denzelle Good and Morgan Alexander are out of school. They did not live up to their expectations so they are no longer on the football team."
