Jerome Seagears is happy to be home after a hectic month on the road playing for D.C. Assault.

"I'm just resting up now, trying to enjoy the rest of my summer," said Seagears from his Washington, D.C. home. "Playing on the circuit this month with D.C. Assault was great... it was a great summer.

"Even though we didn't accomplish all our goals we made it far in a bunch of tournaments. It was real good overall."

Seagears admits that the recent evaluation period opened his eyes to the recruiting process as college coaches filled the bleachers every time D.C. Assault took the court.

"It made me hungry to play hard every night," said Seagears. "It was big knowing that the coaches were there, but I didn't let it pressure me too much. I went out and played my game... did what I do best.

"Some of the teams I saw at our games were Miami, UCLA, Duke, West Virginia, Virginia, NC State, Rutgers, DePaul, Cincinnati, and Clemson. There were even more teams than that, but those were some of the ones I noticed."

Now with multiple offers, Seagears has plenty of options.

"I've got offers from Rutgers, DePaul, Cincinnati, Miami, West Virginia, Arizona, and there are some other ones too," he stated. "I think NC State and some other teams could be close to offering. NC State was at a lot of my games."

Seagears is coming off a strong junior season at Red Springs (NC) Flora MacDonald where he starred at point guard. There are rumors floating around that he might not attend Flora MacDonald this season... is that the case?

"More than likely I'll be back playing for Flora," said Seagears. "I liked it there."

Although he maintains that he doesn't have a leader, Seagears stated that a few schools stick out.

"Definitely West Virginia, Rutgers, DePaul, Cincinnati, and Arizona are up there," he said. "Those would be the top five right now. They've all offered me. I wouldn't say I have a favorite. I'm still neutral.

"It's still open, but I'm thinking of narrowing it down within this month to about seven or eight schools."

NC State has yet to offer Seagears a scholarship, but they remain a team he is interested in.

"If NC State offered me they would definitely be in the mix. I like Sidney Lowe and their program a lot."

Seagears plans on signing in the fall, but he doesn't have a timeframe in mind for reaching a final decision.

"I'll wait it out until early in my year," he said. "I'm going to cut out some schools and take some visits before picking my school this fall."
