Pack Versus Dawgs for Georgia Tight End

The Pack has had success in the state of Georgia and they have their sights set on another Peach State standout. Read on for the latest on Powder Springs (GA) TE Rory Anderson.

It's always difficult to win recruiting battles for recruits that aren't in your home state, and it can be even more difficult in the case of recruits like Rory Anderson.

Anderson, a 6-5, 193-pound tight end from Powder Springs (GA) McEachern, has received an offer from NC State, and he has nothing but praise for the Wolfpack. As a matter of fact, of the schools that have offered it seems as though State would far and away be his top choice. But what happens if Georgia turns up the heat?

Anderson has been in touch with the coaches from Georgia, but the in-state power has not extended an offer to him. NC State has, as has Purdue and Florida International.

"They offered me about a month ago," Anderson said referring to the Pack. "I've talked to coach (Andy) McCollum, but I think he went to Georgia Tech.

"I'm trying to make a trip up there to one of their junior days because they sent me a package and asked me to go up there. They want me to make plans to be there. The last time I talked to coach McCollum was probably a couple of weeks ago, but I haven't talked to anybody since then.

"Recently I heard he got a job at Georgia Tech, but I'm not sure. I was going to give him a call and see if that was true because I heard something about it on the news."

Anderson is right, of course, as McCollum is no longer with the Wolfpack. Despite that, the junior tight end is still very high on NC State.

"I'm looking to go to NC State or Georgia," he explained. "Those are really the two options I'm looking at. I'm going down there to Georgia on (February) 27 for their junior day. Their coach said he's going to sit down and talk to me one-on-one, I guess about the recruiting process."

Though his athletic ability is rare for a prospect that is 6-5, Anderson said the only position schools are looking at him for is tight end.
