O'Brien: Three No Longer on Team

RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State head coach Tom O'Brien announced today that DeAndre Morgan, Donald Bowens, and Jeff Ruiz are no longer on the football team. The trio would have been redshirt seniors for the 2010 season.

NC State head coach Tom O'Brien announced today that DeAndre Morgan, Donald Bowens, and Jeff Ruiz are no longer on the football team. The trio would have been redshirt seniors for the 2010 season.

"Ruiz, Morgan, and Bowens will graduate and move on. They will not be with the program anymore," said O'Brien.

Morgan, a cornerback from Riviera Beach, Florida, started in 2007 and 2008. He entered 2009 injured and earned back his starting job before losing the spot later in the season. He missed the final game with a concussion.

Bowens was a major contributor his first two seasons in Raleigh as he totaled 57 catches for 798 yards and five touchdowns in 2006 and 2007. He missed 2008 with back injuries and also the start of 2009 recovering from a knee injury. He returned against Gardner-Webb and finished the year with 12 catches for 175 yards and one score.

Ruiz, a native of Chula Vista, California, started all 12 games at punter for the Wolfpack in 2009. He totaled 46 punts and averaged 37.9 yards per punt.

The future plans of the three players are unknown at this point.
