Scout.com's Carolina Top 30 Prospects -- Postseason Edition
Scout.com Recruiting Analyst Chad Simmons has released his final rankings of the top 30 prospects from this year's senior class in North Carolina. NC State did an outstanding job in the state, as the Wolfpack landed commitments from four of the top eight recruits.
NC State verbal Robert Crisp checks in at No. 2 on the list. The Raleigh (NC) Athens Drive standout offensive tackle has a chance to come in and play right away for the Wolfpack. He committed to State over 30+ offers from Georgia, North Carolina, Clemson, and South Carolina among others.
Southern (NC) Durham wideout Tony Creecy is the No. 5 prospect. The 6-foot, 195-pounder could play wide receiver or tailback on the college level. He committed to NC State over the summer after considering nearly 30 offers from programs such as Tennessee, North Carolina, Duke, and Clemson.
Local product Fre'Shad Hunter really burst on the scene at Scout.com's Charlotte combine and checks in at No. 6 in the rankings. Hunter, who played at Cary High School, selected NC State over programs such as LSU, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech. At 6-foot-5 and nearly 255 pounds, he could play defensive end or defensive tackle when he enrolls in Raleigh.
Checking in at No. 8 on the list is Greensboro Dudley safety David Amerson. The 6-foot-3, 180-pounder is versatile enough to play cornerback or safety and that type of ability made him a major priority for several programs. After considering Virginia Tech, Clemson, and North Carolina, Amerson picked NC State over Notre Dame late last year.
The only other NC State commitment to make the Top 30 was Tuscola quarterback Tyler Brosius. Checking in at No. 23, Brosius picked NC State after originally committing to Virginia. The 6-foot-3, 232-pounder is the state's top senior quarterback. As a senior he completed 61% of his passes for 3,400 yards and 34 touchdowns with just seven interceptions. For his career Brosius totaled 7,895 yards to become Western North Carolina's career passing leader.
The four top ten in-state commitments is the most NC State has landed since Scout.com has released state rankings. The previous high was three in 2008 when the Wolfpack landed Terrell Manning (No. 1), R.J. Mattes (No. 4), and Brandon Barnes (No. 5). Both classes were recruited by current head coach Tom O'Brien and his coaching staff.
