Interest Picking Up for Lemon

Marquez Lemon

Michael Lemon is now playing at North Carolina State and the Wolfpack is showing a lot of interest in his younger brother. Could they be on the verge of offering?

"Marquez Lemon is getting a lot of interest from a number of schools right now," said Stratford Academy Head Coach Rodney Collins.

"Clemson, North Carolina State, and Georgia are showing the most interest right now."

Coach Collins thinks one schools is very close to offering his prized junior.

"You know Michael Lemon is up there playing at N.C. State and they like Marquez a lot. They have called, been down to the school, and I think they are just waiting for Coach Tom O'Brien to clear the offer."

"I expect them to offer Marquez pretty soon."

The 5-foot-10, 195-pound back plays for Stratford Academy in Macon, Ga. and he is on another level.

He plays against other private schools and the talent around him is not on the same level.

Lemon still competes hard, but he is going to be better when he is pushed more.

"There is nobody in our practices that can really test him because of the differences in athleticism," admitted Coach Collins. "Marquez is a special player and it is just hard for him to be challenged."

"Every school we played this past year set their defense to stop him, so his numbers may not reflect his true ability, but he is very talented."

"Our offense was very young, but he just kept grinding and producing. He carried the ball 43 times for 270 yards one night and never broke one over 10 yards because the defense was so close to the line of scrimmage."

He is only going to get better on the next level and Recruiting is just starting to pick up.

Coach Collins knows his running back can and will make plays when he leaves Stratford Academy.

"He is really preparing himself to do well in college and I think he is looking forward to the challenge."

"He has one more year here and we think he will have a great senior season, but he is a legit recruit."
