Hinton & new friends have a great visit

Mike Hinton returned Monday from his NC State visit during Super Bowl weekend. TSW caught up with Michael to talk about his trip to Raleigh and what his next step will be in making a decision.

Michael Hinton is in the middle of taking his official visits in search of just the right fit for his talents. Last month, he visited Virginia Tech. Next week he will venture down to Tallahassee to pay a visit to Florida State. But this weekend belonged to the Pack and it was their chance to showcase NC State football to the outstanding Hargrave player.

We asked Hinton he had enjoyed his visit. "The visit went great. I had a good conversation with Coach Amato and things just went real well. I was a little blown away."

The Pack's AJ Davis was his host during the visit, but it also seems Hinton and the other recruits in for the weekend hosted each other. "We hung out all weekend. We did everything together. We went out together and we hung out in the same room when we got back in. Everyone talked as if they were going to NC State. There was some bonding going on there. I didn't see anyone who acted like they were not happy to be there."

Who were some of the recruits Michael got to know? "Chris Hawkins was there and so was Brian Dennison. He committed. Blake Merritt is going up to Hargrave this weekend to check that out. I talked to him about that experience. Phillip (Holloman) from Virginia was there also. Jimmy Sutton was there. He said he was committed to Texas, but he looked like he was having a good time.  There was a huge lineman (Mario Henderson) from Florida there too. Thomas (Isaiah) was there too."

One of the highlights was when Michael and his fellow recruits were at the basketball game on Sunday. "I had a name tag on, and when I walked around, people knew who I was. They were nice and told me that they had kept up with my recruiting. The fans made me feel really good."

Virginia Tech is recruiting Hinton as a Wide Receiver, while NC State is talking to him about cornerback. "I just want to play. It doesn't matter to me which position I play."

With the visits complete to his favorites, has one school broken through so he can name a leader? "It is tight right now between Tech and NC State. I want to visit Florida State this weekend, before I decide. I will probably announce at my school."
