NC State head coach Tom O'Brien announced last night on his radio show that redshirt freshman tight end Mario Carter will miss the season due to a knee injury.

Carter was injured during fall camp and had been ruled out for the South Carolina game, but apparently further examination revealed the injury would force him to miss all of the 2009 season.

Carter redshirted in 2008 to recover from a knee injury he suffered in his senior season at Charlotte (NC) Independence High School.

NC State junior linebacker Nate Irving (leg), freshman quarterback Everett Proctor (shoulder), and freshman lineman Denzelle Good (shoulder) are also sidelined for the 2009 season after suffering injuries.
