Georgia OL Hoping for Pack Offer

Georgia OL Hoping for Pack Offer

Pack Pride catches up with Lithonia (GA) offensive lineman Gensen Scott and has the latest on his interest in NC State.

With the Wolfpack looking to take at least one more offensive lineman in the class of 2010, Lithonia (GA) King offensive guard Gensen Scott has had the attention of the NC State coaching staff for a good while now, but he's still without an offer.

The 6-foot-3, 275-pound guard from the Peach State was unable to attend the Pack’s camp held in June, and that may have hindered his chances of receiving a scholarship from NC State to some degree. At this point, Scott will be working hard during his senior season to catch the eye of the Wolfpack staff when they make the trip down to evaluate him later in the fall.

Pack Pride caught up with Scott recently to get the latest on where he stands in regards to his recruiting.

"I talked to some coaches a little bit at the beginning of the summer," Scott said. "I talked to the East Carolina coach and the NC State coach. That's it, pretty much.

"The NC State coach called here at night when I was about to go to sleep. He called my mom and I talked to him a little bit. He just saw how I was doing and talked about how he was doing. He said he'd come see some of my games at my school and he told me about a couple of camps they were gonna have. I just wasn’t able to make it there because of circumstances.

"I mean, NC State's a school I would be interested in. I would like to visit there but I just haven't been able to yet."

Scott holds offers from Louisville and New Mexico, but he hasn't gotten complacent. He's hoping more offers come flowing in so he'll have more options to choose from. He's not in a rush, but he knows each day that goes by is one fewer he'll have to make his decision.

"I'm just neutral right now," he explained. "I know it's getting a little closer to the end. I don't have any favorites but there are some schools I like."

Scott said he has spent a large portion of the off season, and this summer in particular, working on keeping his hands inside. Though he is listed as a tackle, Scott said it is likely that most schools are recruiting him as a guard.
