Demarcus Tyler has decided for NC State after serious consideration for Ohio State. But in the end and as the famous Century 21 quote often goes, the decision was all about location, location, location. "All the schools were real good. I waited on my gut feeling on where to go. I want to get a good education. I wanted to play for a good program. It came down to NC State and Ohio State. Both programs are really good, but NC State is just closer to home."
While the decision was just announced today, we asked Tank when he finally got that "gut feeling". "I have known for awhile now. It's been about a month, but I needed to get the clearance."
Did Tyler get a chance to see his new team in the Gator Bowl? You bet! "The game was real exciting. They took it to them."
While NC State won the battle over second place finisher Ohio State, Tyler will get a chance to see the runner-up next fall. "It should be a good game. It will be my first go around with the team and it should be fun."
Tank will begin his NC State experience immediately. He will be in Raleigh for orientation on Wednesday and starts classes on Thursday. He intends to major in Business Management.
The Wolfpack's addition of Tank is the second All-State player from North Carolina to commit. Mario Williams signed with the Pack and participated in the Gator Bowl practices. Tyler is also listed among the top defensive tackles (#28 3 Star) in the nation by The Insiders.
Tank has gotten to know Williams through several unofficial visits to Raleigh as well as being members of the 2002 NC Shrine Bowl team. He also got to know two other NC State recruits, Isaiah Thomas and Terry Hunter. TSW asked him if the rumors were true about all them going to the same school. "I don't want to say where they are going, but we did talk about everyone staying in the state of North Carolina."
