With NC State's 38-28 win over Miami, the Wolfpack became the first ACC team in conference history to lose its first four conference games, and then win its final four of the season.
NC State also won four straight ACC games for the first time since 2002. There were non-conference games during that stretch, and the last time NC State won four consecutive conference games all back-to-back was in 1992.
Russell Wilson
threw for two touchdowns for the sixth straight game, the first QB since Philip Rivers to have multi-TD passes in six straight games. Wilson’s 220 yards passing and 58 yards rushing were both the second highest totals in a game for him this season.
Wilson was also celebrating his 20th birthday today.
NC State became the first ACC team in conference history to lose its first four conference games, and then win its final four of the season (the ACC went to an eight-game schedule in 1992).
NC State went 96 yards for a touchdown on its opening drive, the second straight week the Pack has had a scoring drive of over 90 yards (97 at UNC). Those are the only two 90+ yard scoring drives this season.
For the fifth time in the last six games, NC State scored on its opening possession (the only game it didn’t was a missed field goal last week at UNC). NC State has scored on its opening possession seven times in 12 games this year, that mark leads the ACC with the closest ones at five before today’s games.
NC State finished with a team total of 219 yards rushing, the most for a Wolfpack team in a game since against Southern Miss in the 2005 season.
NC State finished with four interceptions, and now has 17 on the season, the most since NC State had 19 in 1998. The Pack had three games this season with at least three interceptions, only one such game last year,
Linebacker
Nate Irving
notched his fourth interception of the season in the fourth quarter. Irving set a new school record for most interceptions in a season by a linebacker. Defensive backs
DeAndre Morgan
and
Jimmaul Simmons
each recorded their second career interceptions as well.
NC State has forced 10 turnovers over the last two games, the most in a two game span since 1991.
Josh Czajkowski
kicked a career-high three field goals on the day (39, 24, 42). The 42-yard boot also marked a career-high.
Senior
Andre Brown
moved into eighth place on the career rushing list (2,500), and into ninth place in career all-purpose yards (3,455). Brown also rushed for a TD and caught a TD, the second time in his career he was done so (ECU-2008).
NC State’s 25 first downs were the most for the Pack since the 2004 North Carolina game. The Pack was also a perfect 6-for-6 in the red zone, with three touchdowns and three field goals.
