PC: Wilson, Willis Jr. Meet the Media

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Russell Wilson and Keith Willis Jr. met with the media today to discuss the upcoming game against Maryland.

"We are just trying to make plays and stuff like that... and keep believing in ourselves. I've got to complete a few more passes and make certain plays when we need to."

"We've just got to make plays."

"I've got to make a few more throws, players have to make a few more catches... we've got to run the ball a little better and make first downs. It's as simple as that."

"I think the offense has definitely grown a lot. The more we get out there and experience, for me personally, being out there and making the plays that I need to, and making throws that I need to, it definitely helps."

"I think the offense has taken major steps since the beginning of the season. You watch it from the first game compared to this game we just played against Florida State. We just have to find ways to win. No matter what it is, we have to get the ball as much as we can and get the ball into the endzone every time we get the ball. That has got to be our mindset."

"Owen Spencer is a real good guy and a real talented receiver... He always wants the ball in his hands. That is the type of wide receiver we need to have here at NC State."

"I believe in all my receivers, not just Owen. Owen has real good hands and real good speed and everything like that, but the rest of the wide receivers work hard and want the ball in their hands too."

"I try to be a good leader, try to get everybody motivated, and stuff like that, get everybody going. We have to be on the same page. I'm a talkative guy, I guess. At the same time, I need to keep my composure and everything."

"The seniors are doing a real good job, Anthony Hill... the offensive line. Guys like Jamelle Eugene and Andre Brown... they are really getting guys going as well. That's what we have to have on offense and on defense and on special teams."

"They've done a real good job of teaching me what I've done well and what I need to do to improve on. I just need to keep doing that, and keep improving each week and help our team win games."

"The main thing in playing the quarterback position is getting into rhythm. Against Florida State, I think we got into rhythm early, and that was the key to that game. Other games we have gotten into rhythm too, and we need to keep doing that. I need to keep doing that myself. It makes the flow of the game go so much slower... the pace of the game. Everybody seems like they are moving slower in a way."

"In building my confidence, it definitely helps a lot, completing each pass. Usually, when you complete the first pass, you are like, 'Alright, lets go.'"

"That's how I go throughout the game. I think about each and every play. I don't worry about the past plays that have gone on. I think that is the reason that I have been somewhat successful."

At the same time, we need to win some games around here. We are doing a good job on offense, and it is definitely improving each and every week, but at the same time, we need to win games."

"That's been coach O'Brien's philosophy. He really wants us to protect the football, but at the same time he wants me to make the big-time throws."

"If I do have to run, get what I can get and salvage the play."

Keith Willis Jr.

"I can't call it. It's something we have to take a look at as a defense... figure out what's going on."

"Anything can happen in a game. We're all athletes... it's kind of heartbreaking when you get them in that situation, you see that happen and you head back on the field for another set of downs. It takes the air out of you."

"[Alan-Michael Cash] is quick off the ball. He has perfect hand movement. He adds a confidence to the D-line."

"I was sick to my stomach watching what [Maryland] was doing to my teammates."

I'm going to first give credit to the offense for making their plays, making their assignments. As for the defense, I don't think we've taken a step back, I think it's getting later on towards the end of the season and teams are starting to watch more film and see where our weaknesses are on the defense.

"Having Nate out, Maddox has done a perfect job covering for Nate. I think any situation where you can get hurt it comes down to stepping in and filling their shoes."

"It's more people understanding our defense more, figuring out what kind of schemes we're running. That's where coaching comes into play so they can kind of switch it up a little bit, put new defenses in."

"He treats me as a player, but he's still my father. This weekend I spent at home and we watched football but we didn't talk about what I did wrong out there."

"He lets me know that I'm doing a bad job or a good job, just like he does with any other defensive lineman."

"He treats everyone the same... he's like a father figure to everyone. He jokes around with everyone and everyone feels comfortable around him. He treats everyone the same."
