RALEIGH, N.C. -- Junior defensive end Willie Young spoke following Tuesday's practice about preparing for Boston College and the continued loss of Nate Irving.

On stopping the Boston College offense this week:
“We've had the ability to stop everyone we've played up to this point. I think our downfall is beating ourselves.

On being without Nate Irving:
“With Nate Irving being down it hurts but at the same time we have to continue to move on. We are waiting for him to come back as soon as possible, but Maddox coming back after starting against South Florida will play a big role. He's come a long ways since that game already, and its the first day of practice. We have to go with what we got.”

On stopping the run against Boston College:
“Just as important as it is against anyone else. You don't stop the run, you don't force an offense to be one dimensional, you got your hands full you know.”

On the defensive line's inability to get to Grothe last week:
“That wasn't their offensive line. That was a little bit of Grothe being able to move his feet and buy time with his feet, he's a very athletic quarterback... maybe one of the finest ones we've played against thus far. The offensive line, I give them credit, but you have a quarterback that's smart enough to move and know how to stay in the pocket.”

On getting better pressure on the quarterback:
“We just try to make progress every day. We learn from our mistakes, one of our main objectives is not to make the same mistake twice.”
