WRAL.com has a special video feature with NC State redshirt senior cornerback Jeremy Gray following the Wednesday's practice.
The gameplan changed when Wilson went down. How do you think the defense did as the backbone of the team?
I think we did a pretty good job until about eight minutes in the fourth quarter when they scored three touchdowns back-to-back. That could have been a little fatigue, but we didn't do our job to carry the game through four quarters. We played about three and a half quarters, and we've got to step it up this week.
How tough is it to lose that game by shutout?
It was pretty tough... looking back to last year when we played Maryland, we haven't scored in two straight games. We're trying to make a comeback this week, put some points on the board, and get the team together again.
What did you say to the defense after the South Carolina game?
I just said we did a pretty good job but we didn't finish. It's all about finishing. We didn't finish in the fourth quarter and we kind of let our team down a little bit. Even though it was kind of tough, we should have came through in the fourth quarter.
What have you been doing to prepare for William & Mary?
We just have been doing the same things. We did a little more conditioning, tackling, and getting prepared for the fourth quarter. That's the quarter we have to win.
We did our regular thing. We're not going to let up this week because we're playing William & Mary. We're going to prepare like we are playing South Carolina or anybody else.
What does it mean to finish?
Finishing is you can be tired and have nothing left, but you've got to look deep into yourself and make a play. It's all mental.
Do you have any goals?
I just want to win. That's it. That would be pretty good to me.... just win.
