NC State head coach Tom O'Brien announced today at his press conference that redshirt sophomore linebacker John Ware has been academically suspended from school.
"John Ware has been suspended from school," said O'Brien. "He's academically suspended. He's suspended. That doesn't mean he's out. He has to clear up some things academically, and he's going to come back."
A redshirt sophomore, NC State moved Ware to safety from outside linebacker prior to spring practice, but early in fall practice he was back at linebacker.
Very instinctive and athletic, he tallied 20 tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss, and a forced fumble during his redshirt freshman campaign, mainly playing on special teams and on obvious passing downs.
The 5-foot-11, 205 pounder was expected to battle for playing time at linebacker, but it may have been an uphill battle. Nate Irving, Ray Michel, and Robbie Leonard are listed as the starters, and sophomore Thomas Barnes is in the mix as well as freshmen Audie Cole, Dwayne Maddox, Sterling Lucas, and William Beasley.
A native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Ware was not present this weekend for the Wolfpack's Media Day.
