Young Named to Hendricks Watch List

NC State redshirt junior defensive end Willie Young is one of 36 preseason candidates for the Ted Hendricks Award, the honor given each year to the top defensive end in college football.

NC State redshirt junior defensive end Willie Young is one of 36 preseason candidates for the Ted Hendricks Award, the honor given each year to the top defensive end in college football.

The announcement was made by the Ted Hendricks Foundation of Chicago, IL.

Young is one of four ACC players on the list, as he is joined by Everette Brown of Florida State, Michael Johnson of Georgia Tech, and Ricky Sapp of Clemson.

As a sophomore, Young totaled 48 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, and 24 quarterback hurries. The Palm Beach Gardens, Florida native is expected to anchor NC State's defensive line in 2008.

The winner will be announced on December 10.
