NC State's J.J. Hickson is officially headed to the NBA, as the freshman was selected by Cleveland with the No. 19 pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. Hickson is projected to play power forward for the Cavaliers.
Hickson was a unanimous selection to the ACC All-Freshman team and honorable
mention All ACC in his only season at NC State. He led the Pack in scoring
(14.8 ppg), rebounding (8.5 rpg) and blocked shots (1.52 bpg). He also led the
entire ACC in field goal percentage, hitting 59.1 percent of his shots.
Cleveland is one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, headlined by superstar LeBron James. Hickson is expected to contribute right away for the Cavs.
Ironically, Hickson's first workout was with the Cavaliers.
