FAYETTEVILLE OBSERVER: Williams wins Cape Fear region Player of the Year
Fayetteville Jack Britt senior guard and NC State signee C.J. Williams has been named Cape Fear region Player of the Year by the Fayetteville Observer.
As a senior, Williams played some point guard for Britt as he averaged 15.7 points, seven rebounds, and 3.5 assists in leading his team to the 4A East Regional Finals. He also chipped in 61 blocks for the Bucs.
In his junior season, Williams averaged 24.2 points, 9.5 boards, and 3.6 blocks as he led Britt to a 18-9 record. He scored double figure in all 27 games, scored 20+ in 22 games, and five times he scored over 30 points.
Williams finished his career at Jack Britt with 1,488 points, 648 rebounds, 195 blocks, 182 steals, 236 assists, 107-of-300 3-pointers (36%), 263-of-366 free throws (72%), and 559-of-1097 field goals (51%). Williams is the all-time leader in Jack Britt High School history in points, rebounds, and blocks and he is near the top in steals and assists.
He headlined the All-Cape Fear region basketball team. Joining Williams is Village Christian's Tyree Graham, a Texas Tech signee, Cape Fear's Vernon Payne, West Bladen's Matt McCall, and Southern Lee junior Akeem Richmond.
