Four scholarship freshmen are now enrolled at NC State, as the Wolfpack have added offensive lineman Ahmad Jaradat, linebacker Dwayne Maddox, defensive tackle Kyle Linney, and defensive back Dominique Ellis.

The biggest addition could be the return of wide receiver Geron James, who is now listed on the roster. James, a redshirt junior, enrolled at NC State in January after spending a year away from the university.

John Ware, a 5-foot-11 redshirt sophomore, has moved from linebacker to strong safety. Ware, who has the athleticism to play as a defensive back, tallied 20 tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss, and a forced fumble in 2007.

Taking Ware's place at linebacker appears to be Robbie Leonard. Leonard suited up at safety last season, recording 20 tackles in 12 games. At 6-foot and 195 pounds, Leonard, a redshirt senior, is expected to play weakside linebacker.

Another player who is now listed as a linebacker is redshirt freshman J.R. Sweezy. Sweezy enrolled as a defensive end, and at 6-foot-5 and 245 pounds, he should be NC State's biggest linebacker. He will now be wearing No. 52, the number he wore at Mooresville (NC) High. Last season, Sweezy wore No. 59.

Looking for a change that could impact right away for the Wolfpack? Redshirt senior Meares Green is now listed as a center/offensive guard, suggesting he could be the replacement for graduating center Luke Lathan. Green started all 11 games he played in 2007, mainly at right tackle. Moving Green to center would free up the right tackle spot for Jerrail McCuller and allowing the Wolfpack to potentially get their five most experienced linemen on the field.

The two position changes previously disclosed by head coach Tom O'Brien was defensive tackles Ted Larsen and John Bedics shifting over to the offensive line. The duo started three games in 2007, recording 22 total tackles. Larsen added three sacks while Bedics picked up one. Larsen, a redshirt junior, likely projects as an offensive guard, and Bedics, a redshirt senior, has the size and natural athleticism to play tackle or guard.

Other roster moves include: redshirt junior Koyal George moving from wide receiver to defensive back, and senior J.C. Neal is now listed as a cornerback after moving over to safety midway through the 2007 season. Senior Jamaine Clemmons, who is now down to 255 pounds, is listed as a defensive end after playing defensive tackle as a junior, and the Pack has added a punter in Carl Ojala. Also, Rashad Phillips is no longer listed on the roster. Phillips enrolled as a tight end, but has missed the past two seasons after sustaining injuries in a car accident.

NC State starts spring practice on March 19th, and the first practice is open to the media.
