NC State signee C.J. Williams scored 28 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Fayetteville Jack Britt past Raleigh Wakefield 56-46.
Williams hit 9-of-16 shots, including 3-of-6 from behind the 3-point line, and he also knocked down 7-of-10 free throws. He added nine rebounds, four steals, a block, and an assist.
Britt held a double-digit lead entering the fourth quarter but went cold from the field, as the Bucs failed to hit a field goal in the final quarter. Wakefield used a 12-2 run to cut Britt's lead to three points, but Williams hit 5-of-6 free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
Next up for Britt, the No. 1 seed in their bracket, is the sectional championship game against the Wilmington Hoggard/Southern Durham winner. Gametime is set for 7:00 pm Friday night and the winner will advance to next week's regionals held in Greenville, North Carolina.
NC State assistant coach Larry Harris was in attendance watching Williams in action.
