NC State has landed a commitment from one of the top players in the state of North Carolina, as Shelby (NC) Crest linebacker Dwayne Maddox verbaled to the Wolfpack.

Maddox, rated No. 8 in the state according to Pack Pride, tallied 110 tackles during his junior season. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound prospect committed to the Wolfpack over offers from North Carolina, Clemson, Alabama, East Carolina, and South Carolina among others.

"Dwayne has just committed to NC State," said Crest coach Roy Kirby.

Accompanied by his family, Maddox drove to Raleigh to give his verbal commitment to Wolfpack coach Tom O'Brien personally.

He is NC State's third commitment in the 2008 class, joining fellow in-state standouts Mario Carter and Tobias Palmer.

Pack Pride will have more on Maddox in the near future so stay tuned!
