Notables

  • NC State leads the all-time series, 25-11-2
  • Last season, the Wolfpack split a rain-shorted series in Blacksburg last season. The Pack demolished the Hokies 21-3 in game one but lost the second game by a 7-6 score.
  • The Wolfpack has won its last three games – defeating Maryland on Sunday 20-3 then sweeping a mid-week series against Valparaiso, 9-0 and 9-4.
  • In its last three games, the Wolfpack scored 38 runs (12.7 runs per game) and batted.417 as a team.
  • In 178 innings so far this season, NC State pitchers have put zeros on the scoreboard 133 times, and allowed the lead-off hitter in an inning to reach base just 47 times.
  • Pete Hughes, former Boston College head coach, is in his first season with the Hokies. He replaces Chuck Hartman, who ended a 28-year run as Virginia Tech head coach when he retired last June.
  • Hokie third baseman Bryan Thomas has gone 7-for-14 at the plate in his four career games against the Pack. Thomas has five RBIs, two doubles and a triple in those games.
