NC State 2008 commitment C.J. Williams has been named Mid Southeastern Conference Player of the Year. The honor was announced this evening by Jack Britt head coach Ike Walker at the team's annual banquet.
The 6-foot-5 junior had a tremendous season for Fayetteville (NC) Jack Britt. Williams averaged 24.2 points, 9.5 boards, and 3.6 blocks as he led Britt to a 18-9 record. He scored double figure in all 27 games, scored 20+ in 22 games, and five times he scored over 30 points. The Bucs finished the year with a first-round playoff loss at Roxboro (NC) Person.

Williams was also named first-team All-Conference for the second straight year. He is the top contender to be named Cape Fear Region Player of the Year and is also under consideration for first-team All-State honors.
Williams will now turn his attention to the AAU circuit, as he is contemplating suiting up for the CP3 All-Stars, the Charlotte Royals, or D1-Sports. At this time, he is leaning towards playing with the CP3 All-Stars, a team sponsored by former Wake Forest star Chris Paul.
Williams hits the hardwood again later this month as he will participate in the first-ever “Dave Telep’s Carolina Challenge.” This event, which will take place March 24 on the campus of Cary Academy outside of Raleigh, is a one-day showcase for the Top 80 players in the state of North Carolina and is by invitation only. Telep's staff will be assistant at the Challenge by former Wolfpack standout point guard Chris Corchiani.
Williams has also received an invitation to play in the 2007 NBA Players Association Top 100 Camp, which is held in Richmond, Virginia. The Top 100 High School Basketball Camp was created 11 years ago by the NBA Players Association to assist the Top 100 High School Student Athletes in the development of their individual and life skills, both on and off the court.
Arguably the top junior in the state, Williams committed to the Wolfpack in November over offers from Clemson, Virginia Tech, East Carolina, and South Carolina among others.
