RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State head coach Sidney Lowe met the media following the win over Michigan.

Sidney Lowe

"I thought we played a very good ballgame."

"I think our guys settled down and started playing a little defense. We switched up and went a little zone and kind of slowed them down a little bit."

"I thought the effort was outstanding, especially after losing Engin."

"I think it says that these kids have great character... they understand what it means to sacrifice and help each other out."

"They were big on the boards and they caught us inside a couple of times and got some easy baskets on us."

"I knew and I felt that our guys would come on... they've done it before."

"[Ben McCauley] is not going to stop, he's not going to quit. That's his money right there. What he had to do was move a little more... use his quickness on them because they were using their length. What we wanted to do was get him on the move a little more... when we felt he had a matchup advantage then we put him on the block."

"I felt [the zone] was something we'd have to go to. We put it in a couple of days ago."

"Gavin, he doesn't lack confidence. I'm not concerned about that. What we'll talk about is using this as a learning experience, in terms of what he's got to think about when he's playing that position."

"We were tired.. we were a little tired. There's no doubt about it."

"This is a huge win. I think it's big for just a confidence factor... doing it without our point guard. It tells our guys that if we play smart, we play hard and with injury... we can be successful.

"That's what we talk about. I try not to get too caught up in the opposing team. What I try to do is tell our guys to do what we're trying to do... do what we're trying to do. I'm more concerned about us. If we do that, then we won't have to worry about what they do."
