After signing J.J. Hickson and Johnny Thomas this fall, NC State is looking to add another big-time prospect as Tracy Smith will announce his college choice at his high school this afternoon.

The Durham (NC) Mt. Zion standout will hold a press conference in the gymnasium at Mt. Zion at 2 p.m.

A consensus top 50 player, Smith is rated the No. 13 power forward prospect in the country by Scout.com. The network has also tabbed Smith a four-star prospect and the No. 45 player overall in the class of 2007.

Checking in at 6-foot-8 and 225 pounds, Smith burst on the scene at the 2006 ABCD Camp where he was one of the top players in attendance. Smith averaged 12.6 points (seventh-best overall) and grabbed five rebounds per game, as he was tabbed one of the top 10 players overall by Scout.com. He was also selected to play in the ABCD All-Star Game, and finished with 22 points and eight boards to earn MVP honors.

Smith spent the rest of the summer on the AAU circuit with the Georgia Hurricanes, as he turned it on in Las Vegas at the Big Time Tournament.

After averaging 24 points and 11 rebounds as a junior, Smith plans on making even more of an impact at Mt. Zion this season.

"I'm just trying to be the team captain and the leader," he said. "I know a lot of people are expecting big things out of me so I'm going to do what I've got to do. That is how I'm approaching this year."

But for now, the time has come to announce his college decision. Smith received offers from NC State, Oklahoma State, Alabama, Charlotte, LSU, Virginia Tech, and USC among others, but he has narrowed his list to the Wolfpack and Cowboys.

Which will it be? Will he play for Sidney Lowe and NC State and try to team up with Hickson and Thomas to help lead the Wolfpack back to the top of the Atlantic Coast Conference? Will Smith head to Big 12 country and play for Sean Sutton and the Oklahoma State Cowboys?
