Athlete Kamar Aiken had narrowed his list down to three just two weeks ago. Since that time two other schools have made a strong push and now find themselves in contention for the Hollywood (Fl.) Chaminade Madonna prospect.
"I'm still looking at UCF, Florida and Florida State, but I'm also looking at South Carolina and NC State now," said Aiken, a 6-2, 195-pound prospect who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds. "I'm going to take my official visits after the season so I probably won't narrow it down for good until after those."
All five schools in contention have offered. They are not sure whether he would play wide receiver or safety at the next level but have told Aiken that they like his potential at both positions.
"I like what South Carolina and NC State are trying to do offensively," he said. "I think they really want to pass the ball, even though they've struggled at times.
"My teammate, Akeem Auguste, is looking at NC State so that's caused me to take a closer look at them. John Dunlap is up there now and he played with me down here too. I talk to him every once in a while. He's having a good season for them."
Chaminade Madonna is 7-2 on the season. Once football is over Aiken will take his five official visits.
"NC State is definitely a school I think I'll want to visit. I don't have anything planned yet, but I'll probably go up there and all the other schools I'm still looking at. Once I'm done with those visits I'll be ready to make a decision."
