Still fired up after N.C. State's second straight defeat of a ranked opponent, coach Chuck Amato snapped Thursday night at a reporter.
Amato had been asked if the Wolfpack's turnaround was especially sweet for him because of the criticism he endured earlier.
"This isn't about Chuck Amato," he said. "This is about North Carolina State University. And that stuff, I don't even read it. I don't even know why it's there. Look at what we've done."
What N.C. State hadn't done after three games was post a winning record, as the Wolfpack lost to non-BCS conference members Akron and Southern Mississippi. Athletics director Lee Fowler was unwavering in his support for Amato, but fans were restless.

The question was posed to Daniel Evans about 30 minutes after the final seconds had ticked off in N.C. State's 24-20 win over No. 17 Florida State Thursday night.
"Is this for real?"
Evans' response was about as expressive as the redshirt sophomore living his dream gets.
"I have a lot of people praying for me," Evans said, suggesting that the nightime kneelings next a bedstand could help a once-floundering Wolfpack (3-2, 2-0 ACC) team turn around the 2006 season
