Brackman to Miss Rest of the Baseball Season

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Due to a stress fracture in his left hip, sophomore righthander Andrew Brackman will not be available to the NC State baseball team for the remainder of the 2006 season.

According to NC State medical personnel, Andrew Brackman should recover fully following four weeks of complete rest, and 2-4 weeks of rehabilitation.

Brackman first reported the injury on March 6, the day after he pitched 2 1/3 innings against UCLA in the final game of a three-game series at Doak Field at Dail Park. Because stress fractures normally occur over time and not due to sudden trauma, there is no way to pinpoint when the injury began to affect the Wolfpack righthander/forward.

Brackman finished the season with a 1-3 record and a 6.35 ERA. He last pitched April 21 at North Carolina.
