Apopka (FL) offensive lineman Gary Gregory has committed to NC State.
"Gary just committed to North Carolina State," Apopka head coach Ty Ensor said. "They called today around 3:00, and he committed to them.
"He's got a lot of upside. This is only his third year of playing football. He has just busted his butt in the weight room and has turned into a very good player.
"He's really come a long way. He's just one of those kids who is really determined to make something of himself."
Gregory committed to the Wolfpack after drawing scholarship offers from Cincinnati, New Mexico, Wake Forest, and Kentucky among others.
The 6-foot-5, 295-pound Gregory visited NC State in mid-January and came away impressed with what the Wolfpack had to offer.
"I was hosted by Julian Williams," said Gregory. "The visit went real good and I had a lot of fun. It was exciting. I just liked the campus and the football stadium and I really got along well with the players."
Gregory earned all-county, all-region honors, and was a Florida Class 6A All-State selection as a senior.
"Gary is a very intelligent kid," said Ty Ensor. "He’s got a 3.4 GPA scored a 1000 on the SAT, so he's qualified. He’s also a very intelligent football player.
"Gary’s a hard worker and stays after practice trying to get better on the things he needs to improve on. He's made himself into a great football player through hard work and dedication."
