Wilmington (NC) Hoggard kicker Nathan Franklin has committed to NC State, choosing the Wolfpack over Tennessee, Georgia, and USC.
"Nathan talked to Coach Diaz and Coach Amato this
afternoon to tell them he is committed to NC State," Franklin's mother, Christy, told Pack Pride. "We are so very excited that he chose State and relieved that the pressure of the
decision process is over."
Franklin is generally considered the top kicker in North Carolina, and a likely choice to represent the state in the Shrine Bowl later this year. At least one national kicking scout considers Franklin to be one of the top five kickers in the country.
Although Franklin isn’t known for having a booming leg, he is technically sound and very accurate. As a junior he connected on 7-of-10 field goals, averaging 33 yards-per-kick with a long of 47 yards. He also averaged 39 yards-per-punt and 90% of his kickoffs were touchbacks.
He is the third known NC State commitment in the 2006 class, joining Gavin Smith and Josh Czajkowski.
Pack Pride will have more from Franklin on his decision so stay tuned!
