MSU's head coach Tom Izzo has guided his Spartans to three consecutive Final Fours. He has a young team, starting a freshman, two sophomores and two juniors. It took some time for this team to jell, but made a strong run at the end of the regular season winning five games in a row against Purdue, Minnesota, Indiana, Ohio State, and Iowa.

PG Marcus Taylor (6-3, 195, So.)

Scouting Report: Marcus is in his first year at taking on the point guard responsibilities. Combines excellent ball-handling skills with a deadly jump shot. He has stepped up his game to become the team leader on the court with a 16.7 ppg average. Taylor and score in a variety of ways including slashes to the basket.

Likely match-up: Look for Anthony Grundy to defend the Spartan's heart and soul. Grundy's senior presence should bold well for the Pack.

Could be a long day: If Grundy gets into foul trouble. The match-up could be reminiscent of the Hodge-Greer battle from the temple game.

SG Kelvin Torbert (6-4, 225, Fr.)

Scouting Report: The 2001 Sporting News Player of the Year struggled in the early season but came on late as did much of team shooting 41% from the field. Kelvin averaged 8.4 ppg. He had a career high against Purdue in January scoring 18 points. Look for both guards to try to pound it in to the Spartan big men.

Likely match-up: Archie Miller more than likely will get Kelvin on the defensive end for the Pack. His size at 6'4 could be a problem, so look for help from Crawford and Hodge.

Could be a long day: Torbert uses his speed to penetrate the Pack's defense. If Torbert gets hot early, the combination of Taylor and him could present problems for the Wolfpack.

F Aloysius Anagonye (6-8, 255, Jr.)

Scouting Report: Aloysius has excellent size and strength. Plays a physical game in the low post and is fierce on the boards. Good defensive player who possesses a seven-foot wingspan. He is the workhorse for the Spartans. He averages 6.9 rpg and 7.9ppg.

Likely match-up: We will see how he handles Ilian Evtimov on the perimeter. With Evitmov's ability to hit the three, Anagonye will be forced to D up beyond the arc. Fatigue may become a problem.

Could be a long day: If the Spartans have success in getting the ball in the low post. His size and physical abilities could present problems as many of the ACC's big men have had career days against the Pack.

F Adam Ballinger (6-9, 250, Jr.)

Scouting Report: The big junior forward turn it up big time during the Spartan's end of season run. Has a reliable jumpshot from 12-18 feet and is working on stretching his range. He leads his teams in rebounds at 7.0 per game while averaging 11.4 points.

Likely match-up: The big man will be introduced to freshman sensation Julius Hodge. He too will be asked to guard on the perimeter. The constant cutting to the basket should wear on Ballinger.

Could be a long day: If Adam has a huge rebounding game, especially on the offensive end. Powell and Collins should get some time helping to keep Ballinger and Anagonye in check.

C Jason Andreas (6-10, 245, So.)

Scouting Report: Jason took over the starting role at center at mid season. He is a talented performer who provides the Spartans with a physical inside presence. He has responded well since given the center spot and probably having his best game of the season against Iowa. He averages 2.6 ppg and 2.9 rpg.

Likely match-up: Marcus Melvin's sweet 3 will draw Jason out of the box. Marcus could have a career game if his shot is on.

Could be a long day: If Marcus cannot hold his own in rebounding. Jason does not need to have a big day on the boards or in point production.
