RALEIGH, NC -- NC State's 2005 football opener against Virginia Tech, originally scheduled for Saturday, September 3, has been moved to Sunday, September 4.

The game, which will be televised nationally on ESPN2, will kick off at 7:15 p.m. on the day before Labor Day.

"We are excited about being able to kick off our season on a holiday weekend against a conference opponent on national television," said head coach Chuck Amato. "Opening the season against the defending ACC Champion is certainly a challenge for our team, but it is a great opportunity to showcase our program and NC State University nationally."

The annual Aggie-Eagle Classic, the game between North Carolina A&T and North Carolina Central which is traditionally played in Carter-Finley Stadium on the Sunday before Labor Day, will be played on Monday, Sept. 5 at 1:30 p.m. with gates opening at 9:00 a.m.
