Costner will be the fourth McDonald's All-American to play at NC State under head coach Herb Sendek, joining former Wolfpack players Damien Wilkins and Scooter Sherrill and current star Julius Hodge.
Costner signed with NC State in November after seriously considering Kansas, UCONN, Seton Hall, and Michigan among others.
As a senior, Costner averaged 19 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 4.3 assists in leading Seton Hall Prep (30-1) to a state title. He scored 25 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the 48-40 victory over Christian Brothers Academy. Costner also led the Pirates, ranked sixth nationally by USA Today, to a 63-60 victory over St. Patrick's in the Tournament of Champions. The Wolfpack signee scored 31 points and snatched ten boards in the win.
In the McDonald's All-American game, Costner is expected to play power forward for the East team.
