Pack Pride's Up Close With DT Ted Larsen

Pack Pride talks with DT Ted Larsen about preparations for his arrival at NC State as well as what he's working on to make an impact for the Wolfpack.

The following is a Q&A session with defensive tackle Ted Larsen of Palm Harbor (Fla) University. Pack Pride will be profiling many of NC State's signees from the class of 2005 over the next several weeks.

What have you been up to since the end of football season and are you doing anything to get ready for the upcoming football season?

Larsen- "I've been training five or six days a week. I've been focusing on working on my speed and lifting. I haven't maxed out on squats but I'm benching 405 (pounds)."

When do you plan to arrive at NC State?

Larsen- "I'll be up there during the end of May so I can take part in the voluntary workouts."

When it came time to decide on your future college, what was the number one reason you selected NC State?

Larsen- "Probably just how comfortable I felt up there."

During your high school career, what accomplishment are you most proud of?

Larsen- "I would say just being able to go to the best school of anyone in our high school's history."

If you could pattern your game after one player, who would it be?

Larsen- "Dan Cody (Oklahoma)"

What is your favorite subject in school?

Larsen- "Math"

Who would you consider to be NC State's rival in football?

Larsen- "Florida State"

Who is your favorite music artist?

Larsen- "Well, I listen to a lot of different things but if you looked in my CD player right now, I think I've got Beethoven in there. I like classical music."

What is your favorite movie?

Larsen- "Top Gun"

Did you use the internet at all during the recruiting process and if so, what did you use it for?

Larsen- "I used it a little but mainly just to see where some of the guys I knew were going."

What do you think you'll need to improve on before you get to NC State?

Larsen- "I need to get in the best shape I can. I can work on my speed but the thing I'm trying to improve the most is my explosiveness. I working on that by lifting, doing plyometrics and pulling a sled."

If you hadn't selected NC State, who would your next choice have been?

Larsen- "Georgia Tech. They were on me pretty hard."

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Larsen- "I like to go jet skiing or play golf and tennis."

Who do you think will win the NCAA tournament?

Larsen- "UNC although State's playing really well."
