The following is a Q & A session with DT Alan-Michael Cash from Varina High School in Richmond, Va.. Pack Pride will be profiling many of NC State's signees from the class of 2005 over the next several weeks.

What have you been up to since the end of football season and are you doing anything to get ready for the upcoming football season?

Cash- "I was playing basketball but now I'm lifting weights and running. One week I'll run a mile and the next I'll practice running 40's and 100's."

When do you plan to arrive at NC State?

Cash- "I'm not sure right now."

When it came time to decide on your future college, what was the number one reason you selected NC State?

Cash- "I just got along with everybody and it really felt like family down there."

What was your first impression when you met coach Amato?

Cash- "He was a very cool guy."

During your high school career, what accomplishment are you most proud of?

Cash- "Making the all-metro team. That's a big deal up here."

If you could pattern your game after one NFL player, who would it be?

Cash- "Ray Lewis. We don't play the same position but he's a guy that wants to make every play and he's all over the field."

What is your favorite subject in school?

Cash- "Chemistry"

Who would you consider to be NC State's rival in football?

Cash- "Virginia Tech"

Who is your favorite music artist?

Cash- "Jay-Z"

What is your favorite movie?

Cash- "Scarface"

Did you use the internet at all during the recruiting process and if so, what did you use it for?

Cash- "No"

What do you think you'll need to improve on before you get to NC State?

Cash- "I really need to work on staying low coming off the ball."

If you hadn't selected NC State, who would your next choice have been?

Cash- "Michigan State"

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Cash- "I love playing Playstation. My favorite game is Madden 2005. I like playing as the Vikings."

Is there anything you're good at that might surprise people?

Cash- "I can sing a little bit"

How are you coming with your SAT score?

Cash- "I took it recently and I'm waiting for my score to come back."
