Hemby handed McMahon two packets to hold for him early Tuesday morning – one was from N.C. State and one was from North Carolina. More than likely, the envelopes contained the Letters of Intent to be faxed to the school of his ultimate choosing.
Hemby, who made a verbal commitment to the Tar Heels on Jan. 6, was reported to be considering de-committing from UNC and choosing Florida, although rumors had surfaced that the Wolfpack was making a late push for his services.
"[The packets] totally shocked me – so I don't know what's going on," McMahon said. "He might be keeping the Florida one to himself, so that may be where he's going...I don't know."
However, colleges send many prospects a Letter of Intent package, even those not expected to choose their school, so that doesn't necessarily make them a serious contender.
Hemby will announce his decision from his school library Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., McMahon said.
Inside Carolina will bring you his decision live from Morganton, so stay tuned ...
