Pack Pride has learned that Wolfpack assistant Noel Mazzone has accepted the offensive coordinator position at the University of Mississippi.

Sources close to the situation have confirmed that Noel Mazzone will return to Mississippi to serve as the Rebels offensive coordinator. He was the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach at the University of Mississippi from 1994-1998.

Mazzone could be announced as offensive coordinator as early as Wednesday by the University of Mississippi, and terms of his deal were not disclosed to Pack Pride.

One potential candidate to replace Mazzone at NC State could be LSU offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher. Fisher's status at LSU is uncertain after head coach Nick Saban announced that he will coach the Miami Dolphins.

NC State now has three vacant coaching positions on the football staff with the departures of Mazzone, defensive coordinator Reggie Herring, and wide receivers coach Doc Holliday.
