Mompremier Looks to Lead by Example
"I think I can be a leader," Mompremier said. "I don't talk that much, but I lead by how I play on the field. Some of the younger players look up to me and I want to lead us to a big season." Edison Assistant Coach Eddie Jackson certainly agrees with the leadership qualities that Brouce feels he has. "Brouce is actually the silent leader of our team," Coach Jackson told StateFans. "He's quiet on-and-off the field, but the players follow him as a leader and when on the field he brings it. He's just a huge hitter and plays much bigger then his size. All the coaches tell us that when they come in." Last season Mompremier won Class 5A first-team all-state honors as a junior after recording 118 tackles and 13 sacks. Because he's one of the top linebackers in the talent-laden state of Florida, schools from across the country have expressed interest in the 5-foot-11 200-pound prospect from "Little Haiti." "I have offers from LSU, Ohio State, Central Florida, and South Florida. My favorites are LSU, NC State, Florida State, Miami, and Maryland the most but some other schools recruiting me are Michigan, Ohio State, and Oregon." It appears as though Nick Saban's LSU Tigers hold the early edge for Brouce because of their intense recruiting efforts. "Yea, I like LSU alot because they are recruiting me hard and I like the coaches there. I also camped with them and learned some good stuff at the camp. It's a good school too." Growing up a fan of Florida State, Mompremier mentioned that he's not really a fan any more after watching teams like N.C. State and Miami beat them over the past couple of seasons. With a Wolfpack offer, they have a chance to rise up his list in a hurry. "N.C. State's a good school and I grew up liking Florida State, so when they beat FSU I really took notice. They have a tough defense and Coach Amato came by my school to talk a few months ago. They have not offered my a scholarship yet, but I'm still very interested in them." With another huge year, Mompremier will certainly receive more scholarship offers, and one could indeed come from the Wolfpack. Brouce Mompremier
