Harbison Will Be One Of 2016's Best

Shelby (NC) Crest running back Tre Harbison will be one of NC's 2016 prospects. He talks about his interest in NC State with Pack Pride.

Shelby (NC) Crest RB Tre Harbison camped at NC State and Tennessee in the month of June and the coaches from both schools seemed to be impressed with what the 2016 running back showed them.

That’s at least Harbison’s impression based on the feedback he got from both schools. Going into those camps NC State had offered but Tennessee had not. North Carolina had offered as well.

Tennessee’s camp was on June 16th and Harbison said that went well.

“I was told by some I was the best back there. That’s what some people said. Some also informed me that I ran the fastest 40 there. The coaches were pretty cool. They knew what they were talking about. They’re more like players coaches. They can relate to their plthat ayers real well. They know their stuff. Tennessee has a top notch facility and things of that nature. It’s a top notch coaching staff so I’d say it’s a pretty special place.”

Harbison might have run well at Tennessee but he ran even better at NC State. He turned in his best 40 ever there – 4.49. Dave Doeren and Des Kitchings were both very impressed with him and told Harbison they were happy with how he did.

He had been to a Junior Day at NC State previously so Harbison has gotten to know the coaching staff on a personal level.

“They’re pretty cool. They know their stuff too. They’re more strict and more demanding in what they want you to do. That’s a good thing to have in a coaching staff. They’re trying to bring out the best in you. The Tennessee coaches want to do that too. NC State is a pretty special place as well. Another thing I like about them is they want to run the ball. It’s a good place.”

The contrast in the coaching styles at Tennessee and NC State could be something that Harbison thinks about down the road but he seemed to like both approaches.

There’s been a lull in recruiting for a couple of weeks but after the middle of July Harbison will head out for more recruiting events. On the 18th of July he travels to Georgia for a camp there.
