Former Vol Dyron Nix (1986-89) passed away
Sunday in Atlanta. He was 46. Nix was a two-time
first-team All-SEC performer, and his 1,877
career points rank eighth in program history.
WICHITA STATE RECAP
In a game that was within two possessions for
the first 34 minutes, Tennessee suffered a 70-61
loss at No. 12 Wichita State Saturday.
The Vols were led by senior Jordan McRae, who
scored 26, including his 1,000th career point to
become the 45th Vol in history to reach the plateau.
He was the only Tennessee player to score
in double-figures. Jeronne Maymon had nine
points and nine rebounds.
The lead changed hands 14 times in the game
and the contest was never separated by more
than five points for the game’s first 34:40.
Tennessee held a 26-25 lead at halftime.
Wichita State used a 16-5 run to take a 58-49
lead with 4:47 left in regulation.
The Shockers were led by Tekele Cotton (19)
and Cleanthony Early (13). Cotton scored all 19
of his points in the second half. Darius Carter
came off the bench for a double-double with 11
points and 14 rebounds.
Vols junior Jarnell Stokes saw his streak of four
straight double-doubles come to an end, as he
was held to eight points and four rebounds.
McRAE JOINS 1,000-POINT CLUB
Senior wing Jordan McRae totaled 26 points
at 12th-ranked Wichita State (12/14/13) to become
the 45th all-time member of Tennessee’s
1,000-Point Club. He now has 1,005 points.
McRae’s career points total ranks third among active
SEC players. Only Trevor Releford (Alabama)
and Andre Stringer (LSU) have scored more.

SEC in offensive rebounds per game (15.4).

Senior point guard Antonio Barton is the Vols’
fourth-leading scorer at 7.7 ppg while shooting
.481 from the field and .400 from 3-point range.
He owns a 2.7 assist/turnover ratio and has as
many steals (6) as he does turnovers (6).
THOMPSON FIT FOR DUTY
True freshman Darius Thompson is averaging
18.3 minutes per game and is performing well in
his role as UT’s backup point guard.
Thompson leads the team in assists (21, 2.3 apg)
and steals (15, 1.7 spg) and has only six turnovers
in 165 total minutes played.
His assist/turnover ratio stands at 3.5.
UT commits 18.7 fouls per game this season.
Last season (before the new contact rules), the
Vols averaged 18.1 fouls per game.

STOKES HAS 23 DOUBLE-DOUBLES
Junior Jarnell Stokes has 23 double-doubles
during his UT career (59 games). That leads all
active players in the SEC.
He has posted a double-double in nearly 40
percent of his college games.
Stokes’ 16 double-doubles last year were the
most in the SEC and the most by a Vol in a season
since Bernard King had 22 in 1976-77.
