NC State has done an outstanding job in the state, as the Wolfpack has commitments from 13 of the 50 recruits, the most by any school.

NC State verbal Jalan McClendon checks in at No. 12 on the list, the Wolfpack's highest-rated commitment. The Charlotte (NC) West Mecklenburg quarterback made a jump in the rankings, and is now considered a four-star recruit. He previously chose NC State over offers from Miami, Virginia, Tennessee, and Florida State among others.

Southern (NC) Durham wideout Maurice Trowell, another Wolfpack commitment, made perhaps the biggest jump in the rankings, as the previously unranked prospect is now the No. 14 player in the state. The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder is now considered the state's second-best receiver behind Durham (NC) Hillside standout Trevion Thompson.

Pack verbal Coult Culler checks in at No. 23, and the Wilmington (NC) Laney standout is considered the state's top middle linebacker prospect. The 6-foot-5, 230-pounder picked the Wolfpack in the spring over North Carolina and Virginia among others.

NC State's other commitments in the Top 50 are: Durham (NC) Hillside safety Kalen McCain (No. 26), Gray's Creek (NC) wideout Jefferie Gibson (No. 28), High Point (NC) Central linebacker Germaine Pratt (No. 29), Charlotte (NC) Christian wideout Bo Hines (No. 31), Winston Salem (NC) Parkland defensive tackle Deshaywn Middleton (No. 33), Wilson (NC) Hunt safety Dexter Wright (No. 35), Charlotte (NC) Independence center Tony Adams (No. 40), Warsaw (NC) James Kenan tailback Marcelias Sutton (No. 41), Charlotte (NC) Mallard Creek fullback Jaylen Samuels (No. 43), and Oakboro (NC) West Stanly defensive lineman B.J. Hill (No. 46).

NC State remains in pursuit of some of the other top players as well.

They are considered the leader for Greenville (NC) Rose defensive end Kentavius Street (No. 6), are in the top three for Havelock (NC) tailback Derrell Scott (No. 5), and make the top six for Durham (NC) Hillside wideout Trevion Thompson (No. 3) and Greensboro (NC) Page defensive end Lorenzo Featherston (No. 9).'s Carolina Top 50 Prospects -- Preseason Edition Recommended Stories
