According to a report, NC State senior forward Richard Howell will sign with Denver as an undrafted free agent.

Howell, a 6-foot-7 senior forward from Marietta, Georgia, was a first team All-ACC selection by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association.

He led the ACC in rebounding with 10.7 boards per game and was one of two players in the league to average a double-double this season with 12.7 points per contest. He is one of four BCS players to average a double-double in conference play and his 17 double-doubles are the most since Tommy Burleson had 19 in 1972-73.

"I think Richard can play in the NBA," NC State head coach Mark Gottfried has said of Howell. "He brings something to a team that not a lot of guys do, which is rebound the ball every single night.

"Someone might say, well if Richard was 6'9, he might be able to. I don't care if he's 6'2, he does it every night. I look around the NBA at Kenneth Faried, Reggie Evans, and Chuck Hayes, and Richard Howell, you know what you're going to get with him. If he's on your team, there's not a lot of surprises."
