Turner Named A Brooks Wallace Award Finalist

NC State's Trea Turner has been named one of three finalists for the Brooks Wallace Award, given annually to the top shortstop in the nation since 2004.

NC State's Trea Turner has been named one of three finalists for the Brooks Wallace Award, given annually to the top shortstop in the nation since 2004.

This year's award will be presented during the College Baseball Hall of Fame's Night of Champions on June 29 in Lubbock, Texas.

Turner, a sophomore from Lake Worth, Fla., represents the Wolfpack's first-ever finalist for the Brooks Wallace Award. Chris Diaz was a semifinalist in 2012.

Turner finished the year with a .378 batting average, seven home runs, 41 RBIs, and 27 stolen bases to land on the All-ACC first team, leading the Pack in seven offensive categories. Turner made Perfect Game's second team All-America, and captured a third team mention from NCBWA and Baseball America.

Turner joins LSU's Alex Bregman and Stephen F. Austin's Hunter Dozier as the 2013 Brooks Wallace Award finalists.
