Raleigh, NC -- For the first time in the 20-year history of the Directors’ Cup, the metric for all-sport success in college athletics, each of NC State’s eight spring sports has qualified for NCAA postseason competition.

The seventh-ranked Wolfpack baseball team will play host to an NCAA Super Regional for the first time ever this weekend, taking on Rice at Doak Field beginning Friday at 4 p.m.

Friday’s and Saturday’s games will be televised nationally on ESPN2, while Sunday's game, if necessary, will be carried on ESPNU. NC State is one of just five schools nationally to have its football team play in a postseason bowl, its men’s basketball team advance to the NCAA Tournament and its baseball team advance to the Super Regionals. The Wolfpack men’s and women’s outdoor track and field squads begin competition today at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon, while men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s tennis and softball also advanced to NCAA play in 2013.
