Leslie: "It's Time To Move On"

RALEIGH, N.C. -- C.J. Leslie held a press conference today to announce his decision to declare for the NBA Draft.

C.J. Leslie
"I want to thank everybody who has helped me get this far, and everybody that was in my corner."

"I'm in my hometown, this is where I was raised, and I do appreciate being able to come here and play basketball close to my family at a great university. But, I will be leaving and entering the draft."

"It's one of those things where you just know that it's time. It's time to move on and that's what I feel like in my heart. My family feels the same way that I do. It's just one of those things where we felt like it was time to move on."

"I don't have any regrets... a lot of people my freshmen year were saying I should have went to another school, but I don't really think back. I just keep it moving. I try not to think back... you have to learn to take what you did, live with it, and move on."

"I'm not a fortune teller, I can't tell you I'm going to be a great player at the next level. What I know is I was a great player here at NC State. We'll see what the future has to bring to us."

"You're speaking to them. This one, one back there, and him right here is all I needed. [They were] very important and played a significant factor in my decision. I leaned heavily on this circle right here to make my decision."

"Playing in coach Gottfried's system and just getting that opportunity to show my abilities, it was great. We did great my sophomore year, people might say we didn't do so good this year, but we did better our sophomore year as far as more wins... we did a great job."

"[Coach Gottfried] has this ability to understand his players, and that alone makes a player feel more comfortable... better on the court and off the court. Once you feel like the coach understands where you're coming from it allows you to clear your mind and play better." Mark Gottfried
"I'm proud of Calvin. I think he's got a lot better. I've enjoyed coaching him. He's one of those guys, that I think, a lot of times is mis-perceived by a lot of people."

"He's a great, great young guy. I look back to after the Duke game and we had our student here in the wheelchair... people saw really what this guy is all about. What kind of a person he is, what kind of a heart he has."

"I'm proud of him. I'm excited for him. I think he's confident right now that this is the right time for him."

"I think he's going to do very well."

"I'm sad that he's leaving the program, but I'm excited. This is where his heart is and I think he's going to be very, very good."

"I appreciate him. He's helped us get to two NCAA Tournaments, and he has helped us get our program going in the right direction. I'm proud of him."

"Over the last two years there has been a lot of discussion in regard to him and what guys think of him at the next level. I do know there is a lot of people in the NBA that likes his future."

"A lot will depend on how he does in the workouts leading up to the draft, but the general consensus is there's no doubt that he's going to be a good player in the NBA."

"He has a strong likelihood of being in the first round... a lot is going to happen between now and June. He's going to approach it in the right way, get himself prepared and ready to go."

"I do know that when teams sit down and meet with him and get to know him they are going to have a different impression... at times this guy right here is mis-read sometimes. That is all going to be in his favor because I do think he's a great young guy that will have a chance to grow at the next level."

"The general consensus is he should be in the first round, but we'll wait and see what happens... who all enters the draft, who doesn't enter the draft... I think the guys that I've talked to, there are a lot of guys in the NBA who don't think he'll be there in the second round."

"We have to move on and we'll adapt how we play to our personnel within our system. What we try to do is take advantage of guy's skillsets and how they do well. We tried to do that with him and Richard. Whoever that ends up being next year we're going to do the same thing."

"I was much more comfortable a year ago when we had DeShawn as that third big that came in the game and we rotated those guys around. Hopefully we find ourselves back in that situation. We feel more comfortable that way then we did this year."

Lisa Leslie
"We were going to support C.J. 100%. Whatever his thoughts were and whatever he felt was best for him, we told him we supported him 100%."

"I'm very proud. This is my son. We'll support him 100% so yes, we're very excited."
